Latonia Lodge No. 746 Visits Elvin E. Helms Lodge No. 926

On November 10, 2015, four brothers from Latonia Lodge had the pleasure of visiting Elvin E. Helms Lodge No. 926 located in Petersburg, KY. Our incoming Master Brad Drew has started to challenge the brothers of Latonia Lodge to be involved in their communities, work with other lodges in our District and visit other lodges both in and out of our District when possible. He has put together an incredible agenda for next year which will have brothers from Latonia Lodge visiting not only the other 13 lodges in District 18, but also 5 lodges out of our District (2 out of state). This visit marks the first of many and we hope you can join us when your schedule best allows!

After a somewhat white-knuckled drive down to Petersburg in the dark, our brothers were met by the 2015-2016 District 18 DDGM Dan Kemble, Past Master and member of Elvin E. Helms. He welcomed us into his lodge and we all enjoyed a fine chili supper prepared by  Bro. Buddy Wallace, P.M. Elvin E. Helms.

Bro. Bruce Lott, Vice President for Fraternal Relations and Planned Giving of the Masonic Homes of Kentucky, and a Past Master of Willis Stewart Lodge No. 224, Louisville, Kentucky, presented an educational program at the stated meeting on November 10, 2015. Bro. Bruce spoke on the Masonicare Program, an extremely interesting history of the Masonic Homes and the services that they provide to the Louisville, Shelbyville and Taylor Mill areas. He also spoke about regional services that could possibly be offered to different areas of the Commonwealth by the Masonic Homes. Bro. Bruce also included information about the Adopt a Resident Program and encouraged all brothers in all lodges across the state to consider this program, not only as it means so much to the residents, but it also would earn each lodge points towards the 2015-2016 Grand Master’s Excellency Award.

Bro. Bruce invited all of the brothers present and all lodges to visit the Masonic Homes whenever possible and to spend time touring the campus to see the continuing growth of the Masonic Homes of Kentucky. Bro. Bruce’s presentation was incredibly informative and well received by all present.

Latonia Lodge No. 746 would like to thank Bro. Bruce Lott for his information and education on the Masonic Homes of Kentucky! We would also like to thank all brothers from Elvin E. Helms for their hospitality, fellowship and warm welcome! We look forward to visiting you again in 2016 and welcome you to any meeting, dinner, event or social hour here at Latonia Lodge No. 746.

  1. Congratulations on your visit to Elvin E. Helms Lodge No. 926. Lodges that travel are generally healthier than those that do not. Hebron Lodge No. 757 has the District 18 Traveling Gavel. They next meet on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. I hope to see you there!
